1985 s10 blazer problems ;(
i have a 1985 s10 blazer, and i cant go on the freeways.....sometimes not even in the streets... because it wont go like over 25 MPH at times it does but it does that when ever it wants...at first i thought it was the cadilatic converter but i changed it still kept on doing the same thing so then i changed the carburator and its stopped for like a bit then like a month after it started to do it again..and now i dont know what it can be...when ever im driving its would like wanna turn off ...(i press the gas and then to a cirtain limit it would turn off unless i take my foot off the peddle then if i take my foot off i try to go past that limit and it wont..it would want to turn off)
i really do not know whats wrong with it ;(
thx!

This sounds similar to a problem that I had with my 94. When this occurs next, try accelerating with an extremely light foot, and if it accelerates then check your Throttle Positioning Sensor, otherwise let me know what happens and i'll try to come up with another idea.

It has a carburetor so no TPS sensor.
I would replace the fuel filter and see what that gets you.
When was the last time a full tune up was done (Cap/Rotor/Plugs/Wires)?
Also, you may want to remove the coil and have it tested.

Your vac advance may be dead or clogged, I'm running the same problem with my 1985 S10 pickup only revs to 2500RPM when in gear

Same problem I had a while back...turned out to be the cat. conv. put in a new one and it still ran poorly....turns out the new cat was broken up right out of the box. They are really fragile and all it takes is the shipping guy to throw it on the pile and it's toast. I only found out by removing it from the system (luckily no air-care to pass where I live) If it's easy to pull try taking it out and giving it a shake...
