Default 89 s10 blazer 4.3 engine racing in park.

I just replaced my starter, unfortunately in a gas station parking lot, and now my engine is racing in park. I want to say that I have gremlins because in the past week I have had to replace a cracked radiator, thermostat, coolant temp sensor, and now the starter. Oh and I replaced my ignition control module about 2 months ago. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

take off the idle air control off the passenger side of the throttle body. its a round can lookin thing with a square black connector. Clean the lil piston and inside of the tb with brake cleaner. It controls idle

I cleaned the IAC and throttle body. Still no crank. Whatever is going on I think burned up my second starter as well. I am desperate for any info as to the possible cause. The starter was not still engaged when the engine was racing. I've checked up and down for burned or shorted wires and have come up empty handed.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Spray some ether or brake cleaner around the tb,and engine. if idle changes you found a leak.

+1 on what Chris said. My money is on a vacuum leak. Check for broken/rotted vacuum lines. Also check for any places that a vacuum line might be disconnected.

For the no-start condition check the ignition control module. If that tests OK then check the pickup coil on the distributor shaft.

I'll check for leaks but as far as the no start whatever is going on keeps burning up starters. It doesn't sound like its staying engaged but something is burning up the solenoids.

are you running headers by any chance , extra heat exposure usually on starter

BTW some QA isn't as good as others with rebuilt electrical components

If the racing engine continues ,check throttle linkage for something jamming it up

Was at a customers shop ,when a car was towed in
It had been off roaded into a ditch
The block heater cord was hung up in the linkage
