91 blazer v6 engine question
#2
Shawn, welcome to the forum. The vortec has a balance shaft and the 91 does not. Meaning the old intake will not bolt onto the new motor.
I put a 97 vortec into my 91 5 speed. Modifying the wiring harnesses and adding fuses took twice as long as I thought it would. You will need the engine wiring harness and pcm plus the maf sensor and intake plumbing. The front accessories from the old will work if you block off the egr and make a bracket for the alternator. Add 3 oxygen sensors and coolant plumbing with the 91 temp sensor so the gauge works. The list of modifications is worse than a nightmare, but not quite hell on earth.
I was happy when it was done but I won't go through that again for a v-6. I would trade the good new motor for a good old style. Or keep the new motor and find a new blazer with a bad motor for cheap.
