94 blazer grinding around fan blade
I have a 94 chevy blazer that im trying to keep running. When running it sounds like something is grinding around the fan area but i cant tell what it is or where it comes from. the grinding is not continuous but it does come and go frequently and it just started yesterday when i pulled in my driveway. Also there is a pretty big leak of anti-freeze coming from somewhere. its a 4.3 L. I dont know much about vehicles but i can follow directions and fix just about anything if told or shown. Please help any ideas would be great.

tube? you mean the top plastic neck the rad hose slides onto? Unless its the hose your stuck getting a new radiator. as for the grinding you need to remove the belt and spin the pulleys. here is a vid on releasing the tension on the belt system. its on a 94 fullsize, but its basically the same.
use a socket,on a socket wrench. use pipe on the wrench as leverage. its gonna be stiff! Once the belts off spin the pulleys, they should feel smooth as butter! I bet cha your idler pulley or tensioner pulley is bad. if they are, simply remove em,and replace them. Note though. the bolt that holds the pulley on the tensioner is reverse threaded. so turn left to tighten, right to loosen. idler pulley (just a plain pulley under the ac compressor) is the basic righty tighty lefty loosy.

94 blazer fixed
Earlier i posted about a coolant leak and a grinding noise that started at the same time. After looking into it closer the grinding and the leak were both from the water pump. Tips for anyone replacing your water pump first make sure you get an extended socket to remove the bolts on the water pump, next make sure you put a layer of gasket seal on the water pump and let the gaskets set up on the water pump so they dont move when you put the new pump on, and last tip when you put the water pump on make sure you put the bolts in at the same time. So dont tighten one at a time until youve screwed them all in hand tight.
The blazer i fixed was a 94 chevy blazer 4.3 L vortec. there was only one hose that ran from the radiator to the water pump and the heater hose had to be removed to get a bolt out of the fan guard. Hope this helps good luck to anyone with the same problem.
