Default 94 blazer wont start after replacing manifold gaskets... help

ok so truck was running rough and missing when hitting the throttle and while idling so i swaped the injector and it helped a little but then it ran like garbage constantly, so i checked my oil and coolant and both were low with no leaks so i replaced the lower manifold gaskets that were trashed and got it all back together, but i couldnt get the distributor to go back in in the way it came out, i marked the rotor and everything but it just wouldnt go in where i needed it to, so i got it as close as i could and tried to start it and wouldnt start, so i flipped it 180 degrees and it would start but not idle without throttle, so did some more twisting and turning and i can get it to start and run but everytime i go to let go of the distributor it turns just enough when i let go to where i haft to start all over, now my battery is dead so its on the charger, is there any tricks or common sense things that im just not getting? i do not do timing at all so im just taking shots in the dark so any help is greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you still have the timing off. you need to put the number 1 cyl. back on top dead center compression stroke and drop the distributor back in the correct way. somtimes the distributor does not always fall right back into place so you have to use a long flat head scwer driver to turn the oil drive shaft to get it lined back up.

hopefully this will help.

http://autorepair.about.com/library/...bl-fo-7118.htm Rotor should point to cylinder 1 when it is on TDC.

there is a mark on the crankshaft that will help you align it to a notch that shows top dead center. Just use a socket to rotate it or crank it till it moves close to it and then use a socket. Now the distributor should fall right it. If not, climb over the truck and hold a flashlight down the hole and you'll see how you can use a long flat head screw driver to align the pump shaft to the bottom of the distributor, it should fall right in.

Start it and if you are lucky like me and not 180 degrees off, then the car should fire right up. I had trouble last time cause the battery was dead and kept thinking I was 180 off but it turned out the battery was dead. Good luck.
