another idle thread (ive searched)
Hello all,
I just picked up an 89 4x4 s10 blazer and it runs good when i am in gear with the break on or when i accel but when im in park it doesnt want to idle it is rough and not happy it also smells really rich. there isnt much of a hesitation but i belive its my egr im mainly posting this to get a little feedback im pulling my egr today and cleaning it but i put a vacuum gauge on it and its reading 6 in of vacuum am i correct in thinking that 18 is more normal?
so my main question is am i going in a right direction? ive researched a lot and everything seems to be pointing towards a vacuum leak and ive checked almost all the vacum lines i can find and ive replaced a few. thank you for any help.

your going in a good direction yes. Look for vacumm leaks. Sounds like you have one. Remove the throttle body and clean the tunnels where the pvc runs into. replace the gasket with a new one. Clean the egr,as well as the iac (round can looking sensor on tb)
