Default choke thermostat

hi all, i put in a new thermostat choke last week. The instructions don't make any sense to me out of chiltons, Auto zone site or package. Can some one please try and explain to me how to set it as it is now getting cold in oklahoma city and it is not shutting the choke, couldn't test it when it was warmer, not hard to start yet but not kicking up to fast idle cam and needs to, i guess one works with the other? No knowledge of carbs at all, thank you very much. 1985 4x4 automatic 2.8l

gotta go to work but...does it have three screws/rivets on the face of it? If so, you'll have to drill out rivets replace with screws or loosen screws, pump gas pedal(cold) to close choke, then rotate face of pull off til open the size of 1/8" drill bit and lock down. That should do it-what a blast from the past an 85!!!good luck .JP[:-]

what do you mean? Your last question....It should be ok, all temperatures-assuming the air cleaner hose is attached to the manifold oven[&:] and all else is as it should be. Just think...worse case scenario you could put in a hand choke and eliminate all doubt. good luck. JP
