Default HELP 91 blazer ABS light on

my friend has a 1991 S10 Blazer four door auto with a 4.3 v6 and anti-lock brakes. she has had it for about 3 years, and ever since she had it, the ANTI-LOCK light has been on, it comes on as soon as the ignition is turned on, and does not ever go out. the master cylinder is leaking a tiny bit of fluid right where it hooks to the booster. when driving it, the pedal feels firm, but when you push it, there is alot of resistance and its sometimes hard to get it to stop, almost like there is no power assistance. but i digress. what i am looking for is like a code chart or some way to find out why the light is on, and get the abs working for her.

could end up being very expensive but if you are computer saavy there will be many threads on this forum about this topic. On a 91 you can 'jumper' two terminals in your diagnostic terminal under the drivers side of the dash-above your right knee. Count flashes-go to chart. Good luck-I'm sure others will chime in as needed to help out the best we can. Good luck. JP[>:]

My advice is to take yourBlazer to a independent garage with technicians (not mechanics) whoknowsomthing aboutKelsey-Hays EBC4 ABSbrakes. Diagonsis and repair of ABSbrakes isnot for guessworkby a part timer. I am a part timer and I just put my1991 S10 Blazer SUV in the shop todayin order to determine and fix what is wrong with ABSbrakes.Hopefully my problem will bethe ECHU (Electro-Hydraulic Control Unit) needs bleeding which can only be done by a brake specialist.I have replaced all the basic brake parts such as the master cylinder, front calipers, front pads, rear drums, rear shoes, rear springsand I have bled the master cylinder, brake lines, rear cylinders and front caliperstwice. There is no air in that part of the system and there are no fluid leaks, yetI still don't have decent brakes.

If the ECHU needs to be replaced (it is not serviceable), the costwill cost somewhere between $700 and $900. That unit has been called many things. ECHU, ABS modulator, ABS controller, ABS valve assembly, and#&\#*@%#$!
