How many quarts of engine and tranny oil?
Can somebody help me out with a couple of rookie questions for my 91 s10 blazer:
1. What type of oil does the truck use, 5-30 or 10-30 and how many quarts?
2. How many quarts of tranny fluid?
3. What the round ball looking thing near the battery?

1. I have always used 10-30 in my `94 since new and now have 257,000 miles with no problems. You live in a warm climate and probably have a few miles on it, so the 10-30 would be good. It takes just under 5 qts. with a filter. Just use 5 qts. you will only over fill it by about a pint.
2. If you just drain the pan, it should take 4 qts. of tranny fluid. I would put in 3 qts. then run it and check it to top it off.
3. The round ball thing is for vacuum storage.

So basically your saying it's 4.5 quarts if you change the filter as well. May not wan't to over fill, according to the owners manual you can start an engine fire if it spills into the engine? Wonder how many fires were started this way, none.
