HOW ABOUT THE PITTMAN ARM

RE: idle arm and pittman arm
Idler arm is easy. Pitman arm I have heard you have to move the steering box. I have also heard that there is a way to get it out without touching the steering box. I'l like to know about the pitman arm also.

the pitman arm can be pulled off the steering box with a pitman arm puller (larger ball joint puller). you should be able to do it without removing the steering box but the sway bar and/or splash guard may be in the way and have to be pulled down/off.
ive also had mechanics tell me that instead of using the puller to remove the pitman arm, they actually find it easier to cut it off the steering box by cutting through it vertically (parallell to the shaft it attaches to), then prying it open a bit to get it to fall off the splined steering box shaft.

yea but ur talking about possibly damaging the grooves on the sterring gear, not a good idea! puller all the way and it does help to at least loosen the bolts for the box , they can be accessed through the drvers wheel well/ or around that wheel, i cant remmeber. but eitherway both are relativly easy and make sure u scribe a mark where the olds arms lined up with the gear/frame and then try and transfer the mark to the new arms (in thje same place of course). this way u might not need an alignment and ur steering wheel will still be straight.
