Default Lost door key

I recently purchased a 1988 S 10 Blazer and only have the ignition key.
THe previous owner lost the door key. Can a GM dealer get me a key or
will I have to get a ( high priced ) locksmith to make one for me ?

thanks

Steve

Default RE: Lost door key

You could start by asking this question at the dealership. I'm not sure if they still do that kind of thing or not... A locksmith could work up a new key for you as well.

Another option would be to replace the exterior locks. LMCTruck.com has the door locks. I'm not sure what you would do about the lock at the back of the truck...

*EDIT* - Looks like LMCTruck might have you covered on the back lock as well. Sucks that you would then have 3 keys for the truck though unless you can buy a matched set of all exterior locks from them. You may want to give them a call and see what they offer. It might be the cheapest route.

I checked with a local GM dealer this morning and they said they can make keys for
GM products using the VIN number of the vehicle .... BUT....that is only available for
1990 models and newer :-(
A local locksmith can make me a key for 80.00so I guess I'll go that route.

Thanks for the response I do appreciate it.

Yeah, looks like you would spend that much on parts for replacement locks and you'd still have to put them in. $80 sounds like a pretty good deal for a locksmith to make up a set of keys for you.
