Default Low tranny fluid and shudder in 2nd gear

I noticed a small drip coming from my bell housing. I checked my fluid level it was at the full cold line I warmed it and rechecked and there was no fluid on it at all . So I put in some Lucas stop leak and some atf its now probably a little over full . When driving I had noticed it shifts hard into 2nd when cold in 2nd gear there was a bit of a shudder at 50 kph as well . It also shifts into reverse and drive hard . I was going to check the tps tomorrow to see if that's my shuddering problem. I've also had some poor mileage but I never thought much about it because I mostly drive it in the winter and it spends a lot of time idling . Is there anything else I should check ?

stupid question here - do you have it running and in park when checking fluid level

ok now how about giving us more information like year, engine, what trans you have, 4wd or 2wd ect - will make it easyer to tell what you are dealing with

Places to start checking
Pull the top fill plug on your transfer case and see what the level is, if its over full the seal between the case and the trans is bad needs replaced. Good place for fluid loss. If trans is a 7004r you can try reseting the adjustment on the trans tps cable, a inch or so back from the tps you will see a silver tab that pushes in retract the end of cable cover back then push the throttle to WOT that will reset the cable. 7004r is controlled by pressure for shifts and will give you irratic shifts if out of adjustment - also check all your U joints in the rear driveline a bad joint will slap hard when first putting it into gear

I will check the transfer case but I'm sure it leaking from the front because its dripping from the bell housing . I will check the u joints when I'm down there I haven't heard any clicking when going slow but you never know till you check .

I haven't checked the transfer case fluid level yet (just had eye surgery and don't wanna risk getting something in it) but the u joints are good . I went to take it around the block again and it went into gear smoothly and didn't shudder at 50kph anymore so I'm wondering if the low fluid was messing with the torque converter. The leak seems to of slowed down as well .

Lucas might have helped some - kinnda like their products myself - as you know just make sure you keep track of the fluid levels and for sh-- and giggles when you get healed up check the transfercase - glad trans is better and hope you heal up ok

I've used lucas b4 in my mom's car it had problem a shift solenoid it seemed to work good . I wasn't sure if it would do anything for the seal leak . I've got a fishing trip next week 700km's round trip so I will grab a extra bottle of fluid . The eye is doing good it was not very invasive . I can guarantee it was the only time in my life that UV rays were good for my eyes .
