Default Electrical system issue

I have a problem which may be simple. My Hazard light switch is stuck. Almost like soda or some other sticky substance was dripped into it. It wont retract like it's supposed to but I never spilled anything in it. I managed to squirt some WD-40 in there, along with contact cleaner but it's making very little difference. Before I noticed this problem, my directionals (F&B) and rear brake lights went out. Just stopped working altogether. The rear overhead brake light works, that's it. The last time this happened it turned out to be corroded contacts in the fuse box inside the engine compartment. This time, it doesn't seem like that's the problem. Any insight would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Andy

I really don't like to guess. I do know your hazard switch is bad.

Replace it with the battery disconnected (of course) and when it's done post back. I can guarantee the switch is gone. You're likely feeling dielectric grease and friction against plastic as the "gummed up" feeling.

ok..you will pribably need to replace the whole tun signal switch in the sterring column of your truck..I had the exact same thing happen to me...checked the fuses and the relays..all were fine..just replaced the whole switch and fixed the problem..that's what I get for letting my dad borrow my truck to tow something....

Check the recalls and tsb section this sounds exactly like a recall I saw listed. The switch in the steering column was to be replaced by a recall if that was not done then you should contact the dealer in your town to see what is to be done....since this is a safety item they may cover it. But check with them first....
