Default Overheating problem

Hey everyone I resently purchased a 93 full size blazer and I'm having an overheating problem my radiator and upper hose however are not getting hot even after it has been running for about 15 minutes the temp goes up to 260 and will drop in them if I shut it off and let it sit for a couple of minutes any ideas on what it might b the water pump had been replaced prior to me purchasing it

1st thing I would do is change the t stat and go from there,You should get this problem fixed soon before it leads to more serious problems.260* is hot your tstat you not let your engine go any wamer than 195* depending what temp tstat you have.I would put in one thats for 180*
