Stalls when brakes applied about halfway
Ok so I have a 92 s10 blazer vin w 4.3. I have looked through the threads and have t found anything that's exactly my problem. When I got it I couldn't get it up to speed unless I babied the throttle. Anything more than barely pressing it and it would rev but no power so I changed the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Now it does better but still not feeling much pOwer except when I first take off. Now I'm noticing that when I stop too hard it stalls out. It seems to be about halfway on the brake pedal when it does it cuz if I brake lightly it's fine. Can someone help me with this problem please?

You need to look into the fuel leak my man... These trucks are having this problem alot latley since its 20+ years old. Since you arent getting codes, its fuel related. Do a search on CPI FUEL LEAK and do the simple checkovers.

Ah yes I see a lot of threads on problems with these. I'm gonna try to replace the nut kit and gasket this week. I'm wondering if it would be worth the trouble to convert to tbi. I've seen a few conversion kits on line.

Well i was just about to go get a FPR and the "nut kit" when someone came by and told me to check the EGR and my fuel filter. Sure enough the filter was completely clogged and the gas coming out of it was black. So i got a new one in and cleaned the EGR, got a new gasket and now she runs almost perfect. Still lacking a little power it seems like but acceleration is smooth and steady so im getting a lot closer.

Is your brake booster creating a vacuum leak? These trucks die when vacuum leaks occur becasue they use a speed density system and not a MAF. When the MAP reads low vacuum if thinks it's under load and gives it more fuel. Use a vacuum gauge and check the pressure just running, then push the brake pedal and note any changes. Fuel pressure regulators are also know to go out, check to see if plugs on cylinders 2 and 4 are saturated, if so see if any of the others are. The extra fuel in the intake made by a FPR leak dumps to the 2 and 4 cylinders, when they do the other 4 cylinders actually run lean and should look ashy. 2 and 4 are the middle 2 by the way.

Sorry it took me so long to get back on here but it doesnt stall at all anymore when it has gas.. i was about out of gas when it was stalling on me like crazy and now it only does that when im about to run out so idk if thats still a problem but im only getting the right amount of power when im first taking off and it doesnt seem to matter whether the engine is warm or not so i think ill take the upper plenum off and take a look hopefully tonight but i really dont want to do a compression test if i dont have to.
