OK, tomorrow I'm replacing the upper/lower ball joints and front shocks on the 93 4x4. Any of you guys got some last minute advice for me? Thanks.

 

My advice would be to take it somewhere and pay to have it done. What a PAIN in the butt. Then again, my technical ability is a little (OK, maybe more than a little) lacking. Good Luck!

 

Well, I got it done... It was a pain in the rear considering that the ball joint rivots had to be cut, and beat off! In all, it took me and a friend 3 hours to complete. Fortunately, future work will be easier with aftermarket "bolt-ons". I also replaced front shocks, and an idler arm.Today I will be replacing tranny fluids and filter.

 

Sorry that I'm a little late, but as a future note: a few days before you're going to do any of that work, soak the bolts and rusted pieces in some kind of penetrating oil, or just something that will work at it before you go breaking stuff. a hot wrench is another something that is always handy when doing that kind of work. And also have another vehicle nearby so you can go and get other parts, just in case you break something that you didn't intend on breaking. Congratulations with your success!

 

Should check CV boots, Throw like an oil or something to prevent it on cracking lol. Hate when mine crack!

 

Hey, I was planning on changing the front shocks on my 99 4wd. How hard is it to do myself, do i need any special tools, how long does it takes? any other advice. I know it would be easier to get someone to do it for me but i wanted to see if i could do it myself to safe a few bucks. Any help would be fine thanks.

 

It is quite easy. No special tools are required. The bolts can be quite tight, but not all that bad. I changed mine on my old 2000 Bravada in my driveway with a jack, two jack stands, and a good set of wrenches and sockets. I do not think it took me much over an hour to complete.
