Throttle Position Sensor Adjustment

Throttle Position Sensor Adjustment
I recently replaced the TPS Sensor on my 86 Blazer with the 2.8L V6. I didnt realize i had to adjust it so i have been running around with it not adjusted and the other day the check engine light came back on and looked up what i had to do on how to adjust it out. I just dont know what leads i hook it up too when i have it connected to get the voltage readout on it. I know there are three prongs to the connector on the tps but i dont know where i connect my digital multimeter too?

Just probe the connections. One will be a +5V reference, one will be a ground, and the third will be the sensor signal return to the ECU. The return to the ECU should be around 0.5V at idle and 4.5V at WOT.

Kool Thanks i will get to that very soon.

ok. i have done the adjustment to a t and when i first start it up in the morning and run it down the block the check engine light will come back on. but once i turn it off and start it back up the check engine light will not come back on until the next day after the truck has set up all night. now my question is when i adjust the tps should i do it when the engine is cold?

Adjusting the TPS has nothing to do with engine temperature as its voltage output does not change.
What is the code that is being set?

its still throwing a code i think its 21 or 22. not sure i will post them tomorrow when i leave out for work. would me turning the truck off reset all the codes?

Typically a battery disconnect is required to erase the codes. On the OBD1 systems though, at start up, the conditions may not exist for the problem and show up afterwords which may cause the code to seem like it goes away. I do not believe that OBD1 systems store history codes like OBD2 systems do.

ok so i ran it down the street this morning got it to throw up four codes. 22 which is the tps signal is low. a 24 code which is a vss circuit at fault. a code 33 which it vacuum on map sensor is low. the final one is 12 which is the distributor. now i know the distributor one doesnt matter but are the 24 and 33 fall in that same category because of just jumping it over with a paperclip?

i have a quick question about the map sensor i noticed that the tube leading from the bottom of the throttle body to the map sensor has seen better days and should be replaced. should i go through and try and find something as close to that as possbile or can i just use a piece of rubber hosing?
