Default Torsion bar Mounts

I have been hearing lots of popping since I got the truck and just recently learned it may be the torsion bar mounts. How do I know it its bad? The crossmember that goes into the mounts does not move on the drivers side and the passenger side I can move the crossmember up and down with my hands. Im assuming I should not be able to move the torsion bar up and down with my hands. It movesup so much it smacks into my exhaust. Is the crossmember for the torsion bars supposed to screw into the torsion bar mounts? I dont want to order the mounts if its not going to solve my problem. Thanks all.

Definitely sounds like the mount on the passenger side is gone. There should be no movement in the mount.

Here is a picture of the Moog mount courtesy of rockauto.com:

The exhaust will likely get in your way on the passenger side. The driver side is quite easy to change, but the passenger side is a pain as the exhaust does not allow the torsion bar cross member to be lifted up out of the way enough. If you really cannot get it, then you may need to trim down the stud on the top of the mount by 1/4" - 3/8" which should allow you to install it without disconnecting the exhaust.
