Hey. I'm new here. However I recently bought a 1986 S10 Blazer, and I love it. It's a very dependable truck, and only needed little repair. And for $1000, I could not pass this up.
I knew/know how to fix any issues with my truck, however I hear this ticking/knocking noise coming from right under the hood in my truck. My father thinks it might be the lifters or possibly the valve covers. It just ticks when running, whether idling or accelerating.
Any information or suggestions helping me fix this would be appreciated. And I'll post pics soon enough to show off my ride.

It might just be a case of the preload on the lifters is out of whack, the easiest way to check is to remove the valve covers and cylinder by cylinder, roll it over to TDC with both valves closed and see if there's any excessive clearance between the rocker and the valve. As long as there are no collapsed lifters there should be no clearance between the 2. I believe the preload on each is after the rocker nut is tightened to just remove any slop, turn it another 3/4 of a turn. It is best to do this with the engine running because the lifters need to be pumped up with oil, it gets messy though if you don't have clips for the top of the pushrods...it tends to spray oil all over the inner fenders...lol. If you crank it down too much, the valve won't seat so be careful.
