Default 2000 Jimmy ABS issue braking at 6 mph

Hi everyone,

I am sure this subject has been beaten to death, but I have a weird issue. I have read the service bulletin on the ABS issue, and just this weekend, replaced both ABS Speed sensors on my wifes truck. All the teeth inside looked fine, so I figured it was just the sensors, and replaced them. The mounting surfaces were all cleaned off as mentioned, and everything installed correctly.

Before I did this, ABS would kick in at low speeds under 10 mph, as was reported by the bulletin. The ABS light would come on randomly, stay on, turn off, no pattern.

Since I replaced the sensors, the ABS no longer comes on, and it doesnt seem to kick in at low speeds anymore so I figured the issue resolved. However now, every time I brake at exactly 6 mph it has a quick thunk as if ABS is kicking in, and that is all. ABS still works normally at all other speeds, but it just does this one quick activation at 6 mph, every time.

Is there a way to reset the computer that controls the activation of ABS? I have tried pulling the battery for several minutes, may need to do it for longer I guess.

If I could get any ideas or information on this, that would be great.

Thanks so much!

Anyone have any ideas? Have tried pulling the battery numerous times. ABS works fine, just always kicks in right at 6 mph when slowing down. Running out of ideas, and was trying to avoid taking it into a shop.

Thanks

On 2WD the sensor can be serviced separately, but if it's 4WD, the hub comes with the sensor already installed. During the assembly of the hub, the air gap is measured and a shim is installed, (if necessary) to achieve the proper air gap between the sensor and the tone ring inside the hub. On yours, it sounds like the air gap is slightly off on one or both sensors. You'll need to put it on an ABS capable scan tool and check for DTC's and check the data while driving.
