Default 2001 Trailblazer Front Caliper Removal

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for some guidance on how to remove the top, front caliper bracket/mount bolt. I have exhausted everything I know. Because of the extremely limited clearance, I can't get a straight shot at it with my breaker bar. I can get a socket on it if I turn the wheel and use my jack to compress the suspension, but it's still not a straight shot. So, using an impact wrench/universal joint, wobble extensions, crow feet wrench/socket/socket-to-wrench adapter, etc, has got me nowhere.

I can't even get the bolt to budge, mostly because I can't get enough torque on it.

Does anyone else have any ideas here? I don't have access to a torch either.

Your quick responses would be appreciated!

Tom

i simply went a bought a fresh 18MM closed end wrench, and wiggled it in there. Placed another wrench on the end for leverage and wham it was off

finally got it. borrowed a regular breaker bar and piece of pipe instead of my ratcheting breaker bar. Didn't have the pipe on hand before either. Took a LOT of torque. Tried the combo wrench/pipe but it was flexing the open end.

I hope the other side isn't so hard.

I just had the wheel bearing replaced, so it must have been the shop that torqued it on so tight.
