Post 2002 4.3 engine in 1998 blazer PLEASE HELP!

I bought a 1998 LT blazer 4dr 4wd, with the "W" vin. blown engine. my uncle thought a 2002 LS 4dr 4wd blazer with the "W" vin as well, and 93,000 miles. So he put it in and it only starts with starting fluid. after its running and runs good. that is until you accelerate over 50%. then it just spits and sputters as if it were going to die, until you let off then goes back to regular rpms.

i have changed most sensors that are visable from the top including MAF. i halso changed the fuel pump and sending unit. i was wondering itf the PCM's are different in the 2002 models then they were in the 1998 models? I'm stumpped...

Please if anyone can help, any help is appreciated. thanks for looking

Sounds like a fuel problem maybe. Put a fuel gauge on and see how fast it leaks down when you shut the ign. off.

Waht did you do about the knock sensor
Is the engine light on.. did you pull codes? Do that whether or not the light's on

What many people do in a case like yours is use all the top end parts off the original.

Was the distributor taken out?

ok so not sure what was done on the knock sensor. i'll call my uncle tonight and get more info. i'll also get the codes rechecked out soon.. im 95% sure codes were somwthing about speed sensor, knock sensor, and P0420 = Catalytic Efficency below limit - BANK 1. oh and yes the distributor is off the old engine. also has new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor

ok come to find out the knock sensor is not hooked up. the wire in the 1998 wire loom is 1 wire. the knock sensor on the 2002 engine has 2 wires coming out. how would i fix this? any ideas? would i have to run a new wire or something? would the knock sensor make that big of a difference?

use the old one.

According to swartlkk and others, you retap the hole.

Assume you changed the intake manifold for the EGR

would i have to take it somewhere, or is there an affordable tapping kit i could buy and do it myself? theres an egr on both engines. i swapped those out as well. what intake manifold... lower? would that have to be changed if there is already an egr there?

No... not if it has an EGR.

I'd advise taking it somewhere if you haven't done tapping before. It's in an awkward position and if you break it off in the hole you're screwed.

ok so is there an adapter i can make? i have read that you can make one or possibly buy one and it working? all i'd need is the bolt size and thread size, of hole in block and size of knock sensor... wouldn't i? would the knock sensor make this happen to a vehicle?
