Default ABS Light

Is always on now, before it would come on intermittently, mostly when hitting a bump, but as stated it is always on now, which is causing other problems, my power windows won't work and the blower for the heater will not work also.
What unit or units controll the abs system, and where are there sensors for it, I'm hopeing that something has come loose and justs needs to be reconnected.
Oh my radio goes off all the time also when going over bumps, but it comes back on.

I see 97'...assuming high mileage. My 98's sensors died around 140k. The sensors are in the front hub assembly's (engine side) The wires get corroded, especially if you live in the north (road treatments kill cars!) Check under the hood for the ABS relay as well. I'm assuming you are still able to stop. If your ABS system was dying, it would give you issues stopping (pedal freezing and pulsating). Removing the ABS relay would remedy this, but you will no longer have ABS. Catch 22...

Check the wires up front first. Splice and replace if necessary, if you are confident enough in your electrical skills. I prefer soldering and heat-shrinking, but to each their own. Then move onto the hub. The sensor should be right near the rotor. (follow the wires) CLEAN!!! CLEAN!!! CLEAN!!!

The ABS light also could go on when your brake pads / brake fluid is dangerously low. When is the last time you checked your brake pads, or master cylinder???

As for the heat...if memory serves me correctly, the relays for the blower motor is located on the passenger side firewall, near the computer. My 98' had actually melted the wires, causing me to lose my heat / AC. 1-2 would work, but 3-4 was dead. There is also a switch in the dashboard somewhere, but unknown to the location for your 97'. The climate control switches could be bad? Its a long-shot, but you could Ohm test the connections at the dashboard, and work your way out.

I have problems with my window as well. It is a common blazer thing (ELECTRICAL!!!). My fix was taking the cluster of wires in the door panel, and bending them ever so slightly so that my switches ALL worked (took forever), and taking electrical tape, rubber bands and a paperclip to brace them all, making a splint. They still work to this day (knock on wood).

Good luck with your repairs, sir. ~Mike

Thanks mykeboy01, brakes are great, and sounds like I have a busy weekend,, along with changing the fuel pump.
