Default 1995 Chevrolet Blazer wont idle

Anyone have any ideas on what it might be? The check engine light came on a couple weeks ago, and i had it scanned. The codes say it was just the map sensor. Now 2 weeks later, the vehicle wont even idle. The Blazer quits running as soon as i let off the gas. Any ideas? Thanks for any replies. The Blazer is a 4.3 4x4, and only has 112,000 milesif that matters.

Did you do anything with the MAP sensor after getting the code? Will it keep idling as long as you give it some gas?

No I didnt, because I plan on getting rid of the Blazer here soon. A map sensor shouldntaffect the idleing. And yes it will idle as long as I keep my foot on the gas. But when I let off, it will die when it goes below 900 rpms.

How do you figure a MAP sensor wouldnt effect idle? You also might want to replace the idle air control valve as a cheap test.

At least pull the IAC valve and clean it. While you are cleaning things, remove the EGR valve and give it a thorough cleaning as well. Use a new, screened EGR gasket when reinstalling it.

And I do not follow your reasoning for not doing anything with the MAP sensor. It is what is responsible for the fuel injection and spark timing in the engine. Sure it could cause a problem when at idle.

I guess I was thinking of the MAF sensor, thought the MAP sensor was something different. Where exactly isthe MAP sensor located? How difficult would it be to replace, is it hard to get to?Or do I just plug it in?Im on a few restrictions for the time being. I had a surgery recently, and was put on a wound vac machine for my infection.

The 95 does not have a MAF sensor, but if it did, it certainly would have an impact on idle quality as well.

The MAP sensor is located off the driver side of the throttle body, bolted down from the top using two small screws. See the illustration below:
