Default 4hi will not disengage

I have read everyting I can find on this and have checked the vaccum lines (visual) and have unpluged the shift motor control and battery for a half hour. Took the battery tray out and found no canister there? So i put everything back in and started the truck with the 4hi button lit and the service 4x4 light on. When I press the 2hi button I can here a buzzing from the transfer case (shift module?) Inside the truck I can here a click-click pause then 2 more clicks from the pass side kick panel (tccm?). I am not sure what is wrong. Truck is a 2001 blazer lt 4 door with 167000kms.

Please help.

Thanks

Kevin

Under the battery tray, attached to the fender well, is the front axel actuator. vacuum to the actuator pulls a cable into the actuator about 1".
Seeing that you're stuck in 4Hi, the actuator should be engaged. Remove the vacuum line from the actuator, and see if it releases.

I just had a similar problem with my '01. Stuck in 4hi. Mine ended up being a busted gear on the TCMotor. Motor would run, TCCModule would click, everything seemed to work, but couldn't shift out of 4Hi, and the transfer case was actually in 2Hi. Because my battery would drain after 2 days, I knew it was either the TCCM, or the Motor. With the motor running, but no shifting at the transfer case, I chanced replacing the motor. Once I dropped the motor down, and I could turn the receptacle for the transfer case shaft, I knew it was the motor. (You shouldn't be able to turn it by hand.

Wow that sounds like my problem. The buzzing could be a slipping gear. I guess there is no harm in taking the thing off and seeing if I can turn it. Everything was working not too long ago. I am just glad it was stuck in 4hi since we just had a pretty good snow storm.

Thanks

Well I installed a new Encoder motor assembly this morning and everything is working great now (knock on wood). I took the old motor gear assy apart and found no broken parts so i am thinking the motor stopped working or the encoder broke.

Thanks for the help and thanks Blazer forum.
