Noise Problem 2000 Blazer 2dr 4x4
I have a 2000 2dr Blazer 4x4and I'm getting a medium to loud roar (low pitch) from the rear end area at about 65 to 70 MPH. No vibration. New tires. Any ideas what might be causing this? I don't know if it's wheel bearings, differential, u-joints, etc. I don't know where to start.

Yes it did make the noise before new tires. The sound is comming from the back of the vehicle. New wheel bearing in front also.

Roars are usually wind or tire related. A whine/clunk/screech is usually an axle.
Check your weather stripping and vents in the rear?

to check the u-joints get under the truck and grab the driveshaft near the rear yoke and see if it has play in it, not around wise but up and down back and forth side to side if ya know what i mean by that.. for rear bearings jack up the rear from the middle with a safe floor jack get both wheels high enuff off the ground get in it put it in geear and slowly let the wheels start to spin see if ya hear the noise that way..I`m pretty sure if ya dont have posi someone can hold the left rear wheel still while the right rear rolls, if ya dont hear nay noise have them let go of that wheel and see if the noise starts..also how many miles on it? when the truck is on the ground and you put it in gear do you hear any clunks, ya might even hear like a ping noise if the u-joints are bad..try those options and post back..

Turned out to be U-joints. Replaced them noise is gone. They didn't have any play in them but they were very corroded. Nice quite ride now!!! [sm=happy046.gif][sm=happy046.gif][sm=happy046.gif]
