99 blazer motor swap
Hey guys, I am new to this forum, but I need help. My buddy gave me his 99 blazer 4X4. The motor had a knock, no biggie, just drop a new one in?.....or so I thought. Here are the highlights:
99 balzer, spent 10 years in upstate NY....
4X4.....
Smog pump emissions.....
The vehicle is an hour away.....
Donor motor from a 96 silverado 87K
Now the problem:
1. Since I can only work on this for 2 days on my weekend and after fighting all of the corrosion - it took 4 weekends, now the motor is together & I need to find a home for some vaccum lines. One comes up by the tranny dipstick, the other 2 from the smog pump. After going to a salvage yard I know where the one goes to for the dipstick - to some module on the firewall. The other two are a mystery.
2. After setting the timing, it still does not sound right.
3. The security light is flashing on the dash.
Now the good:
1. trained at a GM dealer (bad- no tech 2 tool).
2. lots of spare parts from both engines (bad - only one crank sensor from the donor motor).
3. Willing to learn and try anything to get this thingrunning (bad - running out of money fast).

Your going to have to search the security light on the BF home page google box. Search motor swaps also. Theres some long reading before you go tonight. When your there take some pics of the vac lines wide and close up. Post them sombody will know were they go.

ok, so i have been able to find out where the vaccum hoses go at the back of the motor, now it is finding the home for the ones coming off of the smog pump, If anyone has a 99-01 4x4, can you please take a minute too look? I leave in the am to try again on the truck, but all the info I can take with me I, would be appreciated....thanks
