noise from front end
So I recently bought a 96 4x, when i bought it the fella told me the noise in the front end was the hub and bearing, and supplied me with a new one witch I recently installed. The noise is still there, sound like a rubbing somewhere, hums and murmers, and ocasionally can fell it when it's louder.
I did notice that when I engage the 4x the noise semms to go away.
Any ideas?

Wheel bearings are tough to diagnose. Often the noise seems to come from the opposite side on which the problem exists. If you can, you should probably replace both wheel bearings at the same time.
That being said, if the noise seems to go away in 4wd, you may have an issue where the front differential/axle is not disengaging all the way.
Have a look at this thread 4x4 No worky and go through the diagnostic steps to see if it helps. My 4wd was slow to disengage and it ended up being a combination of the transfer case switch and a seized actuator cable. Replaced switch and lubed up the cable and all is well now.
