Catalytic converter size 03 Blazer
so i had previously posted about a rattle but i went on to hijack my own thread amd end it prematurely resolving my original issue. I have determined that my catalytic converter is rattling and needs to be replaced. it is mot much of a rattle but i don't want to do any further damage driving around like that.
i should have access to a welder so i think i just want to do a weld in cat. i thik the only things that matter are the length and inlet/outlet size. different places like autozone and advance and online sites are saying that X model fits my vehicle but not all of them have the same size so it is a little confusing. does anyone know what sizes i need to have in order to have it fit? the welder is doing me a favor so i am hoping to get as close to the correct sizes necessary so he won't need many modifications.
or, should i just try using clamps or something instead?
thx

Best to get under it and take some measurements. Inlet, outlet and shell length and overall length. Catalytic converters are rated by the size of engine that it will handle. Make sure you get one that will handle at LEAST a 4.3L, (262 cubic inches). If the converter is not rated at a high enough capacity, you'll continuously have converter DTC's and the check engine light coming on. Don't waste your time with clamps, either weld it in or get a direct fit converter.
