Default factory alarm acting up

I have a 2003 and I am currently in Iraq. My wife is back home in Germany. She was telling me today that the alarm keeps going off. She said that when she was driving yesterday that the dome light came on while she was driving. She made sure all the doors were closed and it happened again. I was reading online and it sounds like a door jamb switch might be going out. How can I tell which one it is? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. She said the neighbors have already complained about the alarm going off several times so anything to disarm the alarm for awhile would be helpful too.

If it is the factory alarm, the act of locking the truck will arm it. You should be able to get around it going off on its own by simply not locking the truck up at night. There is no other disable method that I am aware of.

As far as routing out the source of the problem, it definitely does sound like you have a door switch acting up. About the only way to diagnose this is to methodically go through and disconnect all of them and then reconnect them one by one. You didn't say whether you had a 2dr or 4dr, but the front doors do not have switches in the jam like most. The switches are part of the door latch and will require the removal of the interior trim to get to.

Before you get that into it though, I would make sure that all of the doors, including the rear hatch & window, are closed tightly and that there is nothing caught between the door and the body.
