Dead battery or alternator?
#11
not sure about the terminals but when my alternator went which was 2 days ago. the gauge on the dash was only reading 9. 3 bolts are all that hold those alternators on and take the tension off your serpentine. they are not cheap 130 with exchange at napa. not to bad to change out. i had 120,000 miles so if your getting close might not be a bad thing to think about changing out. better changing it before your stranded
Now about the install since i've never done it before. Just loosen the belt, the three belts and it pops right out? What about the connection to the battery? Does it just screw in and out?
Look for GM side post adapters. Makes life way easier. Its a normal screw in terminal but with another threaded end on the other side so if you have other power sources you don't have to disconnect everything, just the post from the battery. Plus they are nice and shiny new! You can find them at any GOOD car audio place (not best buy or chain stores)

And do these screw in right to what already connects to the battery or does anything need to be disconnected?

[quote=pmezo;284487]Yeah thats what my dash is reading, so its probably the alternator. I was just hoping that it was a dash guage error, but thats probably just wishful thinking. I'll get it checked at autozone just to be sure.

use your 3/8 drive ratchet take the tension off the belt. loosen your 3 bolts. 2 on the front. 1 on the back(holds a bracket). take a pry bar and use it to SLOWLY pop it off. there is going to be 2 electrical connections on the back. one is a ring terminal with a 13mm. the other is a snap connector. do it slowly cause there is not a lot of slack in those wires
