I just got a skip white unit off ebay. 50 bucks shipped. Comes with accel cap and rotor. Aluminum housing. I'm very impressed. 4000 miles and hasn't missed a beat.

If you only unscrewed to old rotor (wasn't making noise or rubbing) to replace it, then it sounds like you aren't positioning the new rotor correctly. When you position the rotor ready to screw in, it has to fall in place or position (there is only one position that will allow it to fall in place). Look under the rotor and notice the two small plastic sticking out and how they are space apart. The distributor has two little holes where the plastic sticking out in bottom part of rotor should go in to, align the rotor put and tighten the two screws only when the rotor is aligned or place in the right position. I think when you put back the old one again, you put it on corrrectly but, the new ones was not put on correctly. Notice that you may already have caused some damage to the distributor cap and the new rotors.

I know what you're talking about, but thats not the case. I positioned it correctly.

If it were incorrect, I'm not sure why the old cap wouldnt rub with the new rotor. The first thing I did when I heard the noise was switch the cap, but the new rotor stayed intact.

Judging by the amount of play in the rotor, I'm pretty confident the entire distributor is bad.

edit: For ****s and giggles I took it all apart just to check. Rotor fell into place just as easily as the first time I put it together. It's not the issue.
