Default engine wont start cranks fine?

Hey guys,

I own a 1997 Blazer LT 4door 4WD 4.3L and I tried starting it the other day to no avail. so heres how it goes.

Engine cranks fine starter sounds as if its turning the motor over no problem but it will not start, I have recently moved from Toronto to Halifax and notice that it is much more humid here and lots of fog, I have had some minor electrical issues with my wipers working one day then my stereo the next, sometimes only one speaker then other times all of them. Anyway I'm thinking air/fuel/spark issues? I have read about these vehicles having issues with thier fuel pumps and am hoping this is not the case. If it is the case I have read that in the model I have the pump is inside the gas tank, I really don't like that style and am wondering if I'm going to replace it can I just get an after market Walbro external pump and use that? I have used them on sports cars when upgrading turbo's etc.. Comments ,suggestions would be appreciated criticism is fine as well. I am very new to SUV's this is my "first ever", I'm used to JDM sports cars...

Your first step should be to determine if your vehicle is getting the proper fuel pressure. If you use the search feature of this forum you'll find numerous posts on how to use a fuel pressure tester to check this. Yes, the fuel pump is in the tank (as are most fuel pumps in just about all cars and trucks made in the past 10-20 years). I'm guessing if their were a good alternative 'out of the tank' fuel pump, we would have heard about on this forum. I don't recall seeing anything like that posted here.
Come back and let us know what you find out.

Also, you may want to read the Do it yourself tech article on this forum regarding your pulse board for your wipers. I had the same issue with my wipers working/not working. I did the re-solder following the tech article and fixed that issue.

After you eliminate the fuel pump as the culprit... Check the inside of the cap and rotor... You could have picked up some condensation like you suspected.
Even if you could make an external fuel pump work, you will still need to drop the tank in order to eliminate the old pump and extend the pick-up tube.

Thanks for all the advice and that search function is wonderful as are all of the great sticky threads! If I do manage to mount an external fuel pump I will be sure to post about it.
