Default Evap Vent Solenoid

I had the shop check out my check engine light while they were working on it this weekend and the cause is the evap ven solenoid. They said it's above the spare tire. And from the sounds of things, it doesn't sound too hard to replace. I'm planning on doing that this weekend. Anyone have any advice for me? Anything I should know or keep in mind? Or just disconnect the wires/hoses; remove the bad, mount the good and hook everything back up?

Also, would this have anything to do with gas mileage? The mileage isn't as great as I would like and it seems to have gotten worse since the light came one.

Or the first two links in the related threads menu below (I'll copy them here in case they change):
EVAP Vent Solenoid - Part Number?
where's the EVAP Vent solenoid?

There are other threads that detail the location better.

Thanks for all the help out there for this!

I do have one final question though...

Replacing it was a breeze. But my check engine light is still on. Will that go away on it's own, or should I have someone clear the codes?

If I am not mistaken...it will reset after so many successful starts without the problem...or take it to Autozone and have them clear it.

Yeah, it really doesn't matter. If it is bothering you that it is on, just have autozone or equivalent clear the code and be on your way. If you fixed the problem, it shouldn't come back!
