Frozen shifter, Blazer wont start, HELP!!!!
I've noticed that when it gets cold out (20F -ish) my shifter wont come out of park. so i turn up the hot air and wait a few minutes. well, today i got it out of park, then at my destination, it wouldnt go back into park. the indicator light does not recognize park. and it WONT start because it thinks its not in park. it has no problem going through any of the other gears. so i left my car on level ground and in what should be "park". i would like to fix the problem ASAP and im at school a few hours from home with the semester ending, i dont want to be stranded up here. any advice would be great. thanks guys.

Check thefuse relaybehind your dashboard and make sure it is opening/ switching. If you get in your car with it either key on engine running or key on engine off if it cant be started and press the brake down and listen close to your dashboard..you should hear a little click as soon as any amount of pressure is depressed right near your speedometer. If that relay wont work your transmission wont allow it to go into/ out of park. If you dont hear the click check the fuse relay itself..multi meter test for available volts and visibly check all wires are connected properly to the relay. any otherquestions just ask

its not that. i can press the brake pedal and cycle through each gear, but since it wont go into park, it wont turn on. i called the chevy dealer foe help and the mechanic there said it could be any number of actuators in the shifting system. so unless i find the problem before sunday, its going to the dealer... thanks though

Does it start in Neutral? It's not a fix, but a work around.

if it wont recognize that it is in parkthan therelay behind the dash probably wont switch from terminal 87 to 87a. if the relay wont switch it will never allow the car to start/ enter park. if that is your solution bosch style relays are a matter of 5 dollars. nice and cheap fix possibly. If you have the time i would go ahead and try it but if you want it professinally diagnosed and fixed take it to the dealer
