Default Has anyone converted a 4x4 truck to a 4x2 truck ?

Just out of curiousity, has anyone removed all the stuff out of there 4x4 truck to make it into a 4x2 instead? and is it possible to do that? like will it cause other problems? I have absolutly no use for 4 wheel drive where i live and it just taking up space under the truck making it harder to work under it. not to mention the extra weight im pulling around... anyone do this before?

Do you love the truck? Might be easier to just sell it off and buy the 2wd. I love my 2wd truck since it was my high school rig, but always wanted it to be 4x4 I found Off road design that has a bolt on kit. Just afraid boss you will hit a lot of dead ends with just sell and buy the one you want answer. Cause that's what I got butI love it to much to sell.

i guess, it makes changing motor mounts or oil pan gasket a lot easier. i ripped all that IFS crap out of my 93 and put a k5 straight axle under there it is alot roomier. only thing you want to do is break your front axles at the outer boot and put that part back into your bearings as they are said to separate when driving.

My suggestion would be to trade it for a 2wd. Many folks wish they had 4wd and would be more than happy to trade and may offer up some $$$.

Regardless of the driveline, the Brazilian Blazer and S10 used the same frame and suspension setup of the American 4WD versions due to its higher clearance which appeals more to local preferences and regional conditions. You'll just need a longer driveshaft (or an aftermarket overdrive unit).
