Default Heat While Underload but Cool Air While Idle?

Hi Everyone,

I am wondering if having heat while under load (driving) but cool air while idle is a thermostat problem or something else?

Coolant levels seem fine.

Coolant was flushed from dex cool to non dex cool and I don't believe the heater core is plugged.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!

is coolant low? might have air in the core. i had one that would do that and turned out to be low on coolant.

Agreed, plus it takes little to no time to do.

remove the heater hoses from the rad. stick a garden hose in the return line (backflush it the opposite way the coolant usually flows in it) and flush it out. see if it helps.

id flush it both ways thru the core, watch what comes out and keep going in that port if its producing the money shot.
