I also replaced my '97 blower and it was a PAIN IN THE A$$. Had to actually break apart the old motor to get it out. A few bloody knuckles later I pounded the new one in, thankfully without breaking it and minus 2 screws that were virtually impossible to put back with the tools I had. The way it was explained in the shop manual made it look pretty cut and dry. Suffice it to say, it was not but it works now and I saved a few hundred bucks doing it myself.
