The ones I remember have a tee fitting that gets spliced into the transmission cooler lines. The temp sensor to the gauge is connected into the tee. You would want to splice into the return line, the one going back to the transmission from the radiator / trans cooler.

allright is there anyway to verify my blazer has a transmission cooler? mine had the factory tow pkg. (don't know if that helps). sorry about being a newb when it comes to transmission, but its something i've never had to work on to much.

also this would be considered a mechanical gauge then, right?

Every automatic transmission equiped s-series truck has a transmission cooler located in the 'cold' tank of the radiator.

allright, so if they say it came with a tow pkg. it's just the hitch then, no other goodies?

thanks for setting me straight on that.

also, just searching ebay i found some that are electric, so it has a sending unit.from my understanding i have 2 options, install a sensor on the transmission pan. which would require drilling into it. or the obd2 monitors it. is there a way to use the obd but with a tranny temp gauge. i don't want to go out and buy a scan gauge. im looking to put more gauges in though.
