Thumbs down Leaking Oil!

Well guys, like the title says my truck is leaking oil. I found a spot under my truck so I got out the dolly and went in to take a look. Its coming off the back of the middle skid plate. Everything under there seems to be coated in oil.

I checked my level and there wasn't anything. I went and picked up a jug of oil with my GF (took her ride). I am going to look under it tomorrow some more and maybe take the skid plate off (if it will).

What should I be looking for while under there?

Is it engine oil, or ATF fluid? Was it the engine oil that was out? Some common leak areas are radiator engine oil cooler lines, remote oil filter lines, & rear main seal. The best thing to do is go to a car wash & wash off the underneath of you truck, then you can get a better idea of where your problem is. When you drive a vehicle with oil leaking it has a way of splashing everywhere underneath.

Haha, I guess its when they stop eh lol!

Well I didn't really get to far today lol. I put oil in it and cleaned up the bottom and drove a little to see if anything changed. Nothing to report back yet and right now its sitting on level ground with an old piece of drywall under it so I know how much it will leak over night. It only took half a 4.75L bottle so at least it wasn't completely empty! Maybe tomorrow after glasses shopping with the GF I will get a little further!

Odd, my 03' ZR2 is in the same boat. Must be the end of the oil cooler lines for us!

Everything in the skid plate is damp and coated in a thin layer of oil. I have a little puddle in my driveway, so I checked the oil level and it said it was on max still. So it's not a fast leak.

Most likely in a month or two I'll book it into a shop and get them to replace the lines. I hear it's a pretty common problem for these.

Keep us updated on yours!
