Just got a new spider in a 95 4.3. It starts fine when cold but after it warms up i have to use starting fluid to start it. No check engine light. Any ideas? It never had any starting issues before.

 

I can start it without starting fluid now if i turn the key on, let the pump pressurize, then turn the key off, repeat twice, then turn the key all the way to engage the starter and she fires right up. It runs ok at idle but sometimes seems a bit starved for fuel (or maybe getting too much?) if i try to accelerate quickly on the road. Fuel pump? Fuel filter? it has about 160k on it (not bad for a 95) but i have no idea when the fuel filter was last changed. I'm thinking that's my next move. The fuel pressure seems correct although sometimes it will hold and sometimes it will drop to about 20 (with the key on but not running). No leaks noticed on the new spider or feed and return lines.

 

If it drops more than a few psi, you have a leak somewhere in the system.
