I wanted to replace the entire spyder, lines, poppets, and all on my '95 4.3. After thoroughly examining the one in the box at the dealer, and passing on the price, I went to a local independent parts store, not a chain store. They could order me one for half price, so I told them to go ahead, hoping the aftermaket replacement was decent. When it came in, it was the exact same one as the dealer had, same box and numbers on it. I couldn't believe my luck. The guy said sometimes on highly specialized items, there will be only one manufacturer that will supply the dealers and aftermarket as well with the same item. Shows how much the dealers are reaming us. He also advised me to replace the lines from the fuel rails to the spyder whileI was in there, because they become brittle andmay eventually leak. I took his advice, and yes, they were brittle. Ihope you have the same luck I had. Now I have a '99 model with throttle body and am so glad I don't have the spyder anymore. Throttle bodies were nightmares when they first came out in my younger days, but they are so, so, much improved now, I think they are trouble free.

Let me be the first to burst your fantasy. The '99 TB still has a spyder like the '95 but with one major difference, it has 6 individual injectors feeding the same style poppets....

Now in 2001-2 model year GM replaced said poppet style spider with the LS1 style multec series spyder, if you can find one in the wrecking yard they will mount directly to your current spyder location. I found one on E-bay for $50 bucks including the complete manifold with upper plenum/TB/MAP/Sensor/Evap purge fitting from a G2500 Van, I don't think the guy knew or cared how cheap he sold that part for....but I installed it and I am at least down one major headache not having to worry if my poppets will go bad...

Mark, that was my bad. I made the fatal mistake of making an assumption. My fuel rails don't go into the TB, they go down through the top plenum. So I guess I have a spyder after all, dang it. I wish I could put LS1 parts on my 4.3 V6.
