Default oil overfill

I took my Blazer to a Penzoil quick change like I always do. They showed me the dipstick and told me that I was almost 4 qts. overfilled. No one has touched the truck since they changed the oil in late Nov. I'm sure they didn't drain the oil properly last time but I have no way to prove it. My question is what damage may have occured in the last two months? The oil pressure has been normal and I have seen no leaks. Also the truck has run normally. Is there anything specifically I should be keeping my eye on?

Well your filter got a workout....LoL If the oil pressure was normal then you should be fine, with a wetsump system like ours there is no excessive pressure build up with excess oil, it maybe that your crank weights might have plunged through the oil and sling it all inside but that does not hurt anything. I would maybe start to learn how to do this yourself. It is not hard and requires very little mechanical knowledge to do.

All you need to know is the bolt size to drain the oil out of the pan and have a filter wrench to spin off the filter from the adapter. Then to know that your engine only requires 4.5 qts with filter, I use just 4 qts with filter and check it during the service life of the oil (I hate trying to get the .5qts out of the bottle).

Also start checking your oil so that if it happens again, you can catch it early on. But I agree no damage should have occured. Korey.

4 quarts overfilled. you may want to check your coolant and see if its low. 4 qts overfull would cause the engine run sluggishly. your crankshaft acts as a pick-up and tosses oil around inside the lower portion of your engine. thats enough oil to cause your crankshaft to be submerged in oil thus causing it more work to turn through it.
