Default Oil pump, pressure sending unit possible replace

I just bought this car an hour ago. (96 chevy blazer 4.3L 4WD)

Oil pressure goes up with acceleration to about 40 when slowing down oil pressure follows as well until you stop and the oil pressure hits 0 and the check gages light comes on.

I did some reading and it seems its either the oil pump or pressure sending unit.

The one thing I am having trouble with is do I have to remove the engine to get at the oil pump?

I bought this car because my other one has a radiator leak that I cant get to and requires removing the engine. I really hope I didnt screw myself and end up with 2 cars I dont have time to fix.

Thanks all for the help!

*edit*
I could also use some help determining if these parts are bad. I figure to test the oil pump you use some kind of meter that I could possibly rent or someone I know has but not sure.

Oil is new and shows full on dipstick.

Is motor honey the thick sticky stuff goes in the oil?

I rechecked the oil as now theres a nock I hear as well. Oil was very very thick and sticky, smelled strong, also very clear, is that motor honey? Thats all thats in it, probably to hide the nock Its a low thud sounds metal on metal to me my dad thinks its vacuum leak and a diaphram slapping.

I called who I bought it from shes going to try to pick something else up at the auction and let me trade what I just bought back in. Hope she finds something if not my options are a truck she told me when she got it had no lights and was re-wired by an idiot amongst other problems and a tiny little kia 2 door. Blegh.

No matter what this person tells you do not give her another nickel for anything. She is an artist.
