Default 1999 2-door Blazer fuel sending unit

I have searched and researched posts here concerning the fuel sending unit on my 1999 Blazer 4x4 2-door, but have yet to actually come up with a definitive answer....

I see some sending units only on eBay that are listed for a 1999 2-door Blazer, and it is the sending unit only. Will these work? Or is mine the type that does not come separately from the fuel pump? The ones I see listed are a MU1063, and supposedly will come off the sending unit housing and can just be replaced by itself.

I thought about where everyone says to replace the fuel pump as well while one has the tank off, but....my labor is supplied free by my mechanics (heavy equipment) so dropping the tank again later on is no big deal.

What is correct? Can I just change the sending unit as listed on eBay, or....is mine indeed a one piece unit?

Thanks in advance,

Henry

Im not sure but I think its all one unit. Id replace it all. Even if you have free labor its still down time for you and more work for them...which would **** em off if ya didnt do it the first time at least it would me. Its not that much more to do it all and just as much time to do it. Get a good one or you will be doing it again real soon.

I don't think I'm allowed to post the link here, but the sending unit is only $20 with a year guarantee. If I can post a pic, here is a pic. From what I can tell, the actual sending unit itself separates from the sending unit "module". From the ad, it will work ona !997 thru 2002 Blazer, 2-Door only. I knew there was a difference between a 2-door and 4-door version, but was unsure about the 2-piece module.

You can only replace the sending unit after youve replaced your fuel pump. The stock pump is a one piece unit with the sender attached. When I was replacing my pump, I verified. Theres no way to get the stock sending unit off unless you get into soldering and what not (which on a used fuel pump is probably not the best idea). The replacement pump had a clip connector between the pump and the sender.

Thanks for the clarification on posting the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-...4506.m20.l1116

As to Wolfpack's comment, that would make sense to me. I don't know whether my Blazer's fue pump has been replaced before, as I bought it used. WOn't know until it is pulled from the tank.

I don't think I would upset my mechanics 496BB, as I am sure they would rather pull my tank again in a nice heated garage as to be working on a Cat D11 dozer outside in 10 degree weather...

But to all....thanks for the help. I guess it is pull the tank to see. But....I may waste the 20 bucks just in case mine has been replaced before. If not, then I can go to the local parts place and get a good Delphi replacement at that time.

Henry
