Wow, what a pain in the as#$!!

I am trying to install an amplifier in my son's '99 Blazer. We are trying to route the power through the firewall to the battery on the passengers (battery) side. When we purchased the car just 6 months ago, we had an odd smell. Based upon other Internet postings, it seems like we may have a leaking heater core. Since I am involved with the audio, I figure I will get to the heater core to verify if it is leaking.

I have a Haynes manual to help me where I am now but it lack some necessary details. I have removed the upper dash, pretty good feat if you have ever tried this. According to the manual, I need to remove the entire blower assembly unit from the firewall to then access the heater core. I removed the obvious bolts, including the one you have to cut out the blower resister from under the hood, but that (damn) thing does not want to budge!

I fear that there may be other bolts behind the engine, closer to the ground. If they are there, I certainly can not see them. It is crazy to think that the engine has to be pulled to remove the blower assembly!

Anybody have some recommendations for removal? How many bolts hold on this (damn) thing?

Well, we got the assembly out. I can't believe where they stick some of these bolts. I'll have to take some pictures and post the 'hidden' bolts so others will not suffer like I did. I can't believe these engineers made it so difficult to remove that thing. I hope I don't lose any of these screws when I put all this back together.

It turned out that my heater core showed no signs of leaking, it looked brand new.

Is there a good place to post instructions like this? I have seen a couple of s10 sites.
