Default Question on fog lights and gas guage

OK first the gas guage. Is this normal? When I come to a stop the guage will swing down 1/4 tank. Then I take off from a stop it will swing all the way up to 3/4 tank. When it starts or on a steady drive it will sit at two lines above 1/2 tank. (This is all on the same drive) Is it normal for a guage on these to have that much play. My 98 didn't? Should I look into it?

Also, Y'all see how my front bumper is open. I have a switch on the dash for fog lights. But I don't see a connector where they would have gone. And I don't think it had oem foglights as it has the tow hooks in front. Has anyone put in fog lights after the fact and can the wire connection be found easily? or will a new wire need to be run from the switch? And if I do intall them (which I likely will) and I think about putting the deflector/valance on the bumper later (likely won't but) will I have to hack it to it on around any lights I mount under the bumper?

not sure about the gas gauage but for the fog lights. The oem fog lights were not mounted by the tow hooks. They are next to the marker lights. If you look at the pic at the top of the page you see the orange side marker under the headlight. That does not have oem fog lights. If it did the orange part would stop 4 or so from the inside. There would be a clear lens where the oem fog light is.

If you have the switch you probably have oem fog lights

You are probably thinking of the newer blazer. I had a 98 with those headlights. The 95 Jimmy doesn't have those. The directional is an integral part of the composite headlight on the end. Similar to the 96 blazer (similar not the same) I can't tell if this did have oem foglights as it was in an accident and the original bumper was trashed and the valance/air deflector was long gone when I bought it.

OK I found the pic of what she looked like when I picked her up. The lower valance was there before. There are no slots for fog lamps. so where did the switch go to?

oh sorry i didnt even look at what you had. I think the oem fog lights were still part of the headlamp assembly.

it has a floating gas gage which will move when its in motion.. i have a 98 blazer that has the same thing.. so yeah its normal.. as far as the fog lights go it could have had them or someone could have installed some after market ones then took them off.. If you are gonna put new fog lights in them i'd likely run them myself the arnt really that bad of an install. and the valance problem idk.
