Short found for ecm fuse #10 popping
HI all, I had a 96 4.3 blazer come in today at the shop I work at, and since I have basically the same vehicle, I jumped on it for the paid experience. Anyway, in the I/P fuse box, ECM fuse #10 was popping. I hopped on this forum for some guidance since I figured maybe it was a common thing. Anyway, I found a few posts, but not much in the way of final outcomes. I am here to share what I found. On the alternator bracket, there is a smaller bracket that holds a large wire bundle. That plastic keeper was broken, and when that bunch was wiggled, the vehicle died. If you look down past that big bundle, there is a small 4 wire harness which contains the wiring for the crank sensor. That small bundle was hitting the exhaust and the pink wire was shorting out, blowing the fuse. Maybe this helps someone, maybe not, but if you are having issues with that fuse, I would at least check on the condition of that plastic piece that is supposed to hold that harness in place, cause if it's bad, you may have the same issue. I'll post a picture of the location in question when I get home.
