Default trans fluid out of dip stick

I got in my blazer this morning its a 02 blazer 2wd 4.3 autotrans, when i started it it seemed to want to pull itself while in park. I drive to town about 4 miles pull up to a stop sign and its smoking like its on fire. so i pull over open hood and i find that trans fluid has came out of my dip stick. any reason why would help. Thank you Tim

A plugged cooler could cause fluid to come out, but it will typically come out of the vent on the top of the transmission, not out of the dipstick. Path of least resistance and all that.

Had a blown modulator do that and a whole lot more crazy stuff, pulling fluid into the intake and pressurizing the trans and making it blow fluid out every hole on the tranny.

But i would check the vent tube for dirt or mud in there causing pressure build up and causing it to go out the dip stick.

Tranny fluid overflow can also be caused by fluid aeration, that could be from overfilling, which would cause clutch drum, ring gear, and planetary carrier to run in fluid, could also be caused by engine coolant contaminating your tranny fluid, or a pump could be sucking air, lots of possibilities, but like swartlkk already mentioned, it should be coming out of the vent, so that's more than likely plugged up.
