Unable to remove filler hose from gas tank
Hey all,
2002 Blazer 4dr 4wd here. Dropping gas tank to replace fuel pump that's gone bad.
For the life of me, I can't get the rubber filler hose free from the gas tank. I've never had a problem with these before, but this one just won't come free. It twists fairly freely on on the nozzle, but no matter how much twisting and pulling I do I can't get any outward movement on it at all.
Is there anything obvious I'm missed? I was thinking of applying gentle heat with a cheap hairdryer to try and soften it up. Is that relatively safe?
Any help much appreciated

One way I have found to be helpful is to lower the end of the tank that the filler hose is attached to. This will begin to put pulling pressure on the filler hose, making it easier to pry the hose off using an xtra large screwdriver. If you have a helper, he can lower the end of the tank simply by pulling down on it by hand while you pry the hose off. Or, if your alone, you can try propping a proper-length 2x4 between the top of the tank and the truck body, which will give continuous downward pressure on the tank while you pry.

Hey.
Thanks for all the advice. Sadly I ended up having to split the hose to get it off, just couldn't shift it.
Went down to Napa to try and get a replacement but because it's different diameters at either end they didn't have it. They want $200 for the whole filler.
Anything else I can do. Perhaps a piece of pipe of the larger diameter clamped down hard?

I need some help on this too. My rubber hose that connects to the fuel tank is dry rotted. Are you sure the rubber hose is different diameters on the ends? That seems kinda unlikely. The thing I can't understand is that when I look online for replacement fuel neck fillers, they do not include the hoses and pipes that I drew in on the picture I attached. Why in the F*@# are they not included? (see picture) Mines a '99'...... Also, have you changed a pump b-4? I can give you some tips on doing it if you want. When I changed the fuel pump on my ole '95 I had to cut the large rubber hose as well. Then I was able to purchase aftermarket replacement hose at a local parts store, but had to buy four feet of it; only needed a six to eight inches. I still have the left over hose. What is the diameter hose you need? I have yet to have to change the fuel pump on my '02 which is why I was keeping the hose hoping that I could use it then.
If what I have will fit I could send a length to you for the cost of shipping.
Let me know.
